Tom and Jerry: In the Dog House was released on DVD earlier this month, and this new collection of shorts is sure to provide fun and laughter for both young and old! I always loved watching Tom and Jerry when I was a kid, and not only do you get to enjoy their cat and mouse antics in this collection, but every single short features Spike in it as well (his son, Tyke, is in some of the episodes, too)! This DVD is packed with over 20 shorts -- 22 to be exact, and my absolute favorite is "Solid Serenade" -- its such a classic! If you're a fan of this classic cartoon duo, this DVD is certainly a great one to add to your collection.

In addition to each episode's main story, The Looney Tunes Show also features "cartoons within a cartoon." 3. Peel of Fortune - We R in Love - Heavy Metal
  4. Double Date - Be Polite - Wile E. Sisyphus
The Looney Tunes gang is back in this third volume DVD from the first season of The Looney Tunes Show. I love the classic Looney Tunes, and this new show is just as great! My favorite episode was Eligible Bachelors, where Lola and Granny bid on dates with Bugs and Daffy (and win!). I have just got to say that I adore Lola! She is awesome and quite hilarious (by the way, her character is voiced by Kristen Wiig)! If you're looking for laughs, The Looney Tunes Show: Season 1, Volume 3 is a DVD to watch (and for more laughs, be sure to check out the first two volumes on DVD, which were released a few months ago). Young Justice: Season 1, Volume 3 DVD Review

Young Justice: Season 1, Volume 3
Release date:
2/21/12
Genre:
Children/Family

Synopsis:
Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and Artemis have become YOUNG JUSTICE - The Justice League's secret weapon against the forces of evil. The teen heroes will take on under-the-radar missions that would be impossible for the Justice League to handle covertly. Red Tornado will be their supervisor, Black Canary will be in charge of their training and Batman will hand out their assignments.
Superhero shows are always fun to watch, and Young Justice is no exception. I wasn't too familiar with the show, nor had I seen any episodes of it, until I had the chance to review the Young Justice Season 1, Volume 2 DVD awhile back, and I've found that it is quite an excellent animated series. The newest volume (Volume 3), which recently made it's way onto DVD on February 21, continues where the second volume left off and seems to keep getting better. Action-filled episodes and great characters keep you drawn in to this cool superhero series. Young Justice: Season 1, Volume 3 includes four episodes from the first season (Bereft, Targets, Terrors, and Home Front), so check it out if you're a superhero fan, and for new episodes, tune in to the Cartoon Network.

The Looney Tunes Show, Season 1, Vol. 2 DVD Review

The Looney Tunes Show: Season 1, Volume 2
Release Date: 12/6/11
Synopsis:
This half-hour animated comedy series starring Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck is no longer confined to 7-minute shorts. Bugs and Daffy are out of the woods and living in the suburbs among such colorful neighbors as Yosemite Sam, Granny, Tweety and Sylvester. In addition to each episode’s main story, The Looney Tunes Show also features “cartoons within a cartoon.” The Tasmanian Devil, Speedy Gonzales, Marvin the Martian and other classic characters sing original songs in two-minute music videos called Merrie Melodies. The legendary Looney Tunes cartoons are getting a 21st century relaunch and a CGI overhaul for a new generation.
I grew up watching Looney Tunes and laughing at all the antics of Bugs Bunny & the gang. Those classic Looney Tunes cartoons always knew how to make a person, no matter what their age, laugh! And after watching this new take, I'm happy to report that it knows how to bring the laughs just like the classics did. The DVD contains four episodes: Monster Talent – A Zipline in the Sand, Reunion – Cock of the Walk – Fee Fi Fo Dumb, Casa de Calma - Queso Bandito – Sail Fail, and Devil Dog - Unsafe at Any Speed. I got quite a kick out of the episode Casa de Calma, in which Daffy and Bugs try to get the attention of Scarlett Johansson, and I think the Merrie Melodies music videos (included on two of the episodes) and Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote" shorts (included on all four episodes) are a lot of fun!

Doctor Who has long been my dad's favorite television show. I have several friends who are pretty much obsessed with the show as well, but while I've seen the occasional episode, it was never a show that I followed all that closely. I had the opportunity to watch the entire sixth series recently though, and I'm so glad I did! Matt Smith as the quirky doctor, along with the rest of the amazing cast and brilliant storylines, won me over! I AM officially a Doctor Who fan! It's an incredibly entertaining series and each episode sort of builds on each other. It's definitely one of those shows that I imagaine if you were to miss an episode, you might not fully understand everything or catch certain things. The 60-minute Christmas Special, A Christmas Carol, was fantastic, and so were all of the special features!

I am a huge Gleek! I watch Glee every week (it's actually one of my favorite shows on television right now) and love it! So much so that I even saw the concert over the summer when they came to Indy, and, by the way, it was fantastic! There are so many things I love about Glee -- the characters, the variety of real-life topics/issues they feature, and, of course, the music! Their mash-ups and renditions of songs are always amazing, as are their performances! The Britney Spears episode and the Rocky Horror Picture Show episode were two of my favorites from the second season. If you haven't caught an episode of Glee yet, or if you're a super fan of Glee and want to view all the extras, you definitely want to check out The Complete Second Season of Glee on DVD!

    The Hour Review

    The Hour
    Release date:
    9/27/11
    Official Site: http://bit.ly/noJs2Z

Now available on Blu-ray and DVD, The Hour, is an intriguing, sexy and original, edge-of-your-seat spy thriller set in the world of television journalism in 1956 Britain. The two-disc DVD set includes two featurettes: a behind-the-scenes look at the miniseries, a making of special and much more.

    Synopsis:
Set behind the scenes of the BBC newsroom, just as an investigative news program is launched, the drama plots the personal lives, professional interplay and jealous ambition between aspiring but renegade journalist Freddie Lyon (Whishaw), the beautiful ambitious young producer Bel Rowley (Garai) with whom he is in love, and his handsome rival Hector Madden (West), the face and lead anchorman of this rising television news team. The Hour plays out as a riveting thriller set against the backdrop of the Cold War.

Viewers witness the decade on the threshold of change – from the ruthless sexual politics behind the polite social façade of the ‘50s to the revelations that redefined the world for a new generation. Over the six episodes, the interplay and intense ambitions between the rising news team plays out against the backdrop of a mysterious murder and Freddie's controversial and dangerous investigation.
The Hour is an entertaining and suspenseful British drama with superb performances from the entire cast. From the first episode, I was completely hooked, and though there are only six episodes, it certainly packs quite the punch! It's fantastic! This series delivers a mix of genres - drama, mystery, romance, and more. The pace of the show is perhaps a bit leisurely in the beginning, but eventually picks up. The love triangle between Freddie, Bel, and Hector really held my interest, and the mystery element certainly kept me on the edge of my seat. Practically everything about this show made me fall in love with it -- all of the characters, the wardrobe, the set design, the plot, the witty banter, and, of course, the era in which it's set (the 50's!)! I recently heard that it has been renewed for a second season, and I'm so glad because I was hoping for more of this brilliant show.

Everwood: The Complete Fourth Season Review

    Everwood: The Complete Fourth Season
    Release date:
    8/2/11
    Genre: Drama, Television

    Synopsis:
The final season of the series set in a welcoming town in the Rockies is all about finding oneself...and finding each other. Here, in the 5-Disc, 22-Episode Season Four, the unforgettable people of Everwood test the ties that bind them together in joy and tears, friendship and love. Drawn by his feelings for Amy, Ephram returns home and mentors a troubled piano prodigy. When Nina chooses Jake over him, Andy struggles to remain friends with the woman he loves. Bright and Hannah make their unlikely romance work. The Abbotts open their arms to a new child. Intriguing characters arrive and beloved characters depart. Say goodbye to the place and the people that won your heart - and discover how everything turned out!
    Special Features:
    • Over 40 minutes of Unaired Scenes, Including 10-Minuete Alternate Season 4 Finale
Everwood was a tv show that I absolutely adored! I watched it in it's original airing - every episode, every season. Everwood was a family drama that really touched your heart with relatable characters and wonderful storylines that ended far too soon. It was great to see the fourth and final season finally brought to DVD, and I very much enjoyed watching it. And as much as I would have loved for there to be a fifth season, I thought that pretty much all of the storylines were tied up quite nicely, and I felt that the ending was completely perfect!

This DVD set includes all 22 episodes of the final season on 5 discs, and it includes unaired scenes as well. The fifth disc actually contains an alternate season 4 ending scene/cliffhanger, which would have been aired if it had been renewed for a fifth season. Being that it's the final season to come to DVD, I would have loved to have seen other extras, such as behind-the-scenes footage or commentaries, but I was happy with the deleted scenes. The DVD set is certainly a must-own for all Everwood fanatics! If you've never seen the series before but enjoy watching family dramas (which, by the way, I think there seems to be not enough of on television these days -- Loved shows like this one, Gilmore Girls, Life Unexpected, etc.), then this show is well worth a look! I highly recommend it to anyone!

ER: The Complete Fifteenth Season DVD Review

    ER: The Complete Fifteenth Season
    Release date:
    7/12/11
    Genre: Drama, Television

    Synopsis:
With sirens wailing, an ambulance pulls into the bay. Doctors coping with too little sleep and too many patients rush to help, making split-second judgments that can mean the difference between life and death. Gurneys roll. Tensions rise. Medical miracles — or heartbreaks — unfold. And the final season of ER goes out as it came in 15 seasons before — with an electrifying mix of complex characters, rich storylines, brisk pacing and kinetic style. Favorite characters from the past (some you expect, some may surprise you) return in this 22-episode valedictory season of the series that shattered the mold for medical dramas. You’ve come to the right place. Check in one last, momentous time at County General.
    Special Features:
    • Outpatient Outtakes: Unaired Scenes
    • Previously on ER: Retrospective Featurette
ER was one of my favorite dramas on television. I used to watch it nearly every Thursday, and as a long-time fan of ER, I can tell you that I was certainly teary eyed a time or two (well...okay, way more often than that actually) while watching the fifteenth and final season. The opening episode was such a tearjerker with the shocking death of Pratt, and the tears continued from that point forward - from Abby’s last day at County to learning of Banfield’s backstory (and her past connection to County) and other sad/touching moments. The final season definitely had a lot of dramatic and heartbreaking moments, but it also saw a lot of happy times, romance, and, of course, funny moments, as well. I’ve absolutely loved the entire cast of this show throughout the years, so I really enjoyed the appearances of past characters, such as Ray, Dr. Green, Carter, and more! Re-watching the complete fifteenth season of ER, made me realize just how much I miss this amazing show.

This 5-disc DVD set not only includes all 22 episodes of the final season, but it also includes some great special features, including Outpatient Outtakes: Unaired Scenes and Previously on ER: Retrospective Feature, which were awesome to watch! If you’re an ER fan, the final season is a must-own!

Who doesn't just adore the Smurfs?! My sister was a huge fan back in the day, as was I. And with the new movie coming out, it's great to watch some of the original cartoons. I didn't really remember any of these episodes that where featured on this DVD set, but I certainly recall that memorable theme song, which can easily get stuck in your head, and those loveable characters. My favorite episodes were Sister Smurf and Smurf Van Winkle. All of the Smurfs are so cute, and each episode is still entertaining and quite funny after all these years.

The Smurfs: A Magical Smurf Adventure features 10 great episodes. It also includes two fun special features (Smurf Speak: Express Yourself the Smurf Way and Smurftastic Moments: 10 Top Moments from the Smurfs’ Second Season). The Smurfs' language is really quite unique because they use the word "smurf" quite often and it seems to mean practically anything, so it was cool to watch Smurf Speak. Smurftastic Moments was really cute, too!

And what’s up with 10-year-old Ben (Jeremy Miller) and those 67 calls to a sex line? (No, it’s not what you might think.) These events don’t all happen at the same time, but they do all happen at the same place: the Season 2 home-sweet-ho-ho-home of the Seavers – dad Jason (Alan Thicke), mom Maggie (Joanna Kerns), three on-the-grow kids. There were so many wonderful family sitcoms in the 80's, and Growing Pains was one of my favorites! It never seems to be on re-runs anymore (or at least not lately that I've noticed), so it's nice to see that the second season is finally on DVD. This show is both heartwarming and funny, and watching the show brought back a lot of memories. I love seeing the fashion and hairsytles of the time -- it gives me quite a chuckle. Mike, played by teen heartthrob Kirk Cameron, was definitely my favorite character, and stil is! He seems to steal many of the scenes, but the whole cast is great! I hope the other seasons become available on DVD soon!

The Space Kidettes & Young Samson DVD Review

The Space Kidettes & Young Samson
This special collection is now available for the first time on DVD only at WarnerArchive.com!
    Genre: Action/Adventure, Animation
    Release Date: 3/8/11

    Synopsis:
Q: What do pint-sized space travelers and a teenage science buff have in common? A: Loyal dogs, a calling to protect the planet (and beyond) from evil and they shared a half-hour Saturday Morning TV time slot of animated fun! Space Kidettes and Young Samson kicks off with the adventures of Scooter, Jenny, Snoopy and Countdown – the Space Kidettes – and their puppy Pupstar. Operating from their space capsule-turned-clubhouse, they protect the galaxy from the bumbling Captain Skyhook. The second half of the show is devoted to Samson, a teen with a big brain, magical bracelets and a dog Goliath who transforms into a lion when it comes time to thwart the diabolical plans of mad scientists. This action-packed 4-Disc Collection includes All 20 Episodes of our resourceful heroes up against space pirates, molemen, monster asteroids and more!

NOTE: The original network broadcasts of SPACE KIDETTES (1966) and YOUNG SAMSON (1967) were formatted to break up the plot line of each episode to include additional animated content not made by Hanna-Barbera, but which were controlled by the series’ sponsor. After the network runs ended, the KIDETTES and SAMSON stories were re-edited into continuous scenarios, and the two series were joined together as the THE SPACE KIDETTES/YOUNG SAMSON SHOW for subsequent forms of distribution. The revised syndication versions of these shows are the only ones available for distribution, as the original network versions were cut and reconformed for the current configuration.
This Space Kidettes & Young Samson 4-disc DVD set is a whole lot of fun! These two series may seem as though they're an odd pairing to some, but they are both really entertaining to watch as with many of the classics from Hanna-Barbera! The Space Kidettes gang are so adorable, and I love the fact that even though Captain Skyhook was always after their treasure map, he never actually wanted to harm them -- always saying, "You can't do that to little kids!" Young Samson is filled with a lot of action, with Samson always traveling around on his cool scooter and helping out wherever there's trouble by using his bracelets to transform into a super strong version of himself (and his dog, Goliath, transforms too -- into a huge lion)! I liked both of the cartoons, but I think I'd have to say that The Space Kidettes was my favorite of the two -- I can't lie, their cuteness just won me over!

Scarecrow and Mrs. King: The Complete Second Season DVD Review

Scarecrow and Mrs. King: The Complete Second Season
    Release date:
    3/22/11
    Genre: Television
    Official Site: www.scarecrowandmrskingdvd.com

    Synopsis:
American spy Lee Stetson and his housewife sidekick Mrs. Amanda King are really going places in Season Two, fighting the Cold War in London, Munich, Salzburg and the Caribbean! Kate Jackson and Bruce Boxleitner again play the mismatched operatives, mixing laughs, intrigue and battle-of-the-sexes verbal jabs in this collection of 23 Episodes on 5 DVDs. Amanda is targeted by a white-slavery ring. Lee and his mentor, dithery Lady Emily Farnsworth, hunt for stolen plans for a top-secret plane. Amanda is the other woman in a headline-grabbing sex scandal. And Mrs. King becomes Mrs. Scarecrow on a romantic wedding cruise, complete with veil, vows and smooch at the altar – all in the line of duty, of course!
What a great series from the 80's! Scarecrow and Mrs. King has a fantastic mix of adventure, humor, romance, and suspense! The cast is wonderful, and I love the chemistry between Kate and Bruce. Several of the episodes take place in various European locations, which tended to be my favorite episodes, and it's always fun to see Amanda travel about while her family (her mother and sons) was clueless as to her activities since she always had a good story to explain everything. I can't wait for season three to be released!

    Synopsis:
Hop in the van for Mystery Inc.’s new, cool series of spooky capers. Like, it’s an all-new Scooby-Doo TV series for families who want their mysteries like Scooby-Doo and Shaggy want their pizza … spicy with extra sauce! Episodes:
    • Beware The Beast From Below
    • The Creeping Creatures
    • Secret Of The Ghost Rig
    • Revenge Of The Man Crab
For as long as I can remember, I've loved Scooby-Doo, along with the rest of the awesome gang: Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Shaggy! This new series is updated from the original -- with romance and, of course, it features mysteries for the gang to solve, but they seem a bit more scary this time (than what I remember when I was younger)! I loved the classic series, and although it's different, the new series is fantastic! The animation has a different feel/look to it than the original, but the series is still just as great as it ever was! I was a bit shocked when I discovered that Velma and Shaggy are dating! YES! I said dating! But, I like it because it makes this new series more interesting, like they're real teenagers, and gives the characters more depth.

Jabberjaw: The Complete Series DVD Review

    Jabberjaw
The Complete Series now available for the First Time on DVD exclusively at WarnerArchive.com!!
    Genre: Animation, Comedy
    Release Date: 2/15/11

    Synopsis:
Playing in a rock-’n’-roll band and saving the undersea world from diabolical villains? An impossible task for most, but not for Jabberjaw, the 15-foot talking great white shark from the fan-favorite Saturday morning cartoon series. The year is 2076 and Jabberjaw is the star of the Neptunes, a teenage rock group. In his spare time, Jabberjaw, along with teens Biffy, Shelly, Bubbles and Clamhead, fight deep sea crime. But its tough down there for a shark. Jabberjaw must also contend with the robot force of “Shark Ejectors,” guards who prevent sharks from entering into underwater cities. All he wants is a little respect! Catch the tidal wave of adventure, music and laughter in this 4-Disc, 16-Episode Series Collection.
Jabberjaw is another great Hanna-Barbera animated series, and it's title character is actually a friendly shark who plays drums in a rock band, along with his (human) friends, called The Nuptunes. The Neptunes are "musical heroes" -- they not only play in a rock group, but they also fight off all the bad guys in the futuristic undersea world! It reminds me of a combination of Scooby Doo and Josie and the Pussycats, which are two shows I really loved. This series definitely has some pretty clever lines that made me laugh (with one of them being, "You look much better with your face on"). From the opening with the awesome theme song to the end of the show, it's fun the whole way through!

And of course there’s that Dallas hallmark, a white-knuckle cliffhanger. This time it’s a two-part finale inspired by It’s a Wonderful Life in which J.R.’s guardian from the great beyond shows the Lone Star State’s meanest rattler what the world would have been without him. • Conundrum (1 & 2) -- Two hour episode
While I never watched Dallas when it originally aired on television, I do remember it and I know my parents were huge fans of the series (it's one of the all-time favorites). My parents would anxiously await for the new episode every week, so I was definitely interested in watching it on DVD. I hadn't watched the previous seasons of this series, but I had a pretty good idea of the storyline as I've heard about it over the years since it was such a popular show, and I was also filled in by my parents from what they remembered about the show lol. I was pretty much obsessed with the series after the first couple of episodes (haha, now I need to catch the previous seasons)! It is certainly entertaining and is definitely one of those series were you can't stop watching (and you just want to keep watching to find out what happens next)! The theme music is immediately recognizable, and the cast is fantastic (I adore Larry Hagman)!

Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch: The Complete Series DVD

WHEELIE AND THE CHOPPER BUNCH is now available exclusively from the Warner Archive: http://bit.ly/WAC_Wheelie
    Genre: Animation, Comedy
    Release Date: 1/25/11

    Synopsis:
Zoom into gear with Wheelie, the world’s greatest stunt racing car, and his girlfriend Rota Ree as they outmaneuver the sneaky motorcycle gang Chopper, Revs, Riser and Scrambles in this 3-Disc, 13-Episode Complete Series Collection! Not the smartest bike in the bunch, Chopper’s schemes range from scaring Wheelie with ghost cars at the car cemetery, tricking a trail bike into spying on Wheelie and cheating at a tractor-roping competition, plus many more shenanigans that never end well for the gang. Besides outwitting Chopper in these 39 adventures (3 per episode), Wheelie aids other vehicles needing a helping wheel, like a lost scooter, a sick tow truck and a stranded bulldozer. Honk for great family fun and motor to the couch for a night of drive-in entertainment!
Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch was a short-lived Hanna-Barbera cartoon series -- one I that I don't recall ever watching before (although it does seem somewhat familiar). I thought that it was a super fun animated series to watch, and Wheelie and Rota Ree (Love her & her name!) are just adorable! I love the fact that all of the cars/bikes/vehicles of all types can talk, but Wheelie just uses good ole' fashion car noises to communicate with others, such as by honking his horn. Plus, there are a lot of smart lines in this series that gave me quite a chuckle, such as, "I could do that with my headlights closed," "My head gasket's splitting," and "Oh, shut your motor!" This is definitely a Hanna Barbera classic!

My sister and brother-in-law have been a fan of Merlin since catching a marathon of it on the Syfy channel awhile ago. I had never seen the series, but definitely wanted to watch it once I heard them rave about it, so I was excited when I had the opportunity to check out the second season on DVD. I was familiar with the legend of Arthur and Camelot, as most are, but I think it's really cool to see a younger version. I think Merlin is such an incredibly exciting show! From the very first episode I watched, I was drawn in and loved everything about it. The show features magic, romance, adventure, and humor! I love the friendship between Merlin (Colin Morgan) and Arthur (Bradley James). It's such an adorable "bromance!" All of the characters are amazing, as well as the entire cast!

As soon as I was finished watching the entire second season, I just HAD to watch the first season!! And luckily, I was able to find that it was available on Instant Streaming on NetFlix (and I'm thinking I need to buy it on DVD)! I am so obsessed with this show now (I LOVE LOVE LOVE it), and it's become one of my favorites!
