Tom and Jerry: In the Dog House was released on DVD earlier this month, and this new collection of shorts is sure to provide fun and laughter for both young and old! I always loved watching Tom and Jerry when I was a kid, and not only do you get to enjoy their cat and mouse antics in this collection, but every single short features Spike in it as well (his son, Tyke, is in some of the episodes, too)! This DVD is packed with over 20 shorts -- 22 to be exact, and my absolute favorite is "Solid Serenade" -- its such a classic! If you're a fan of this classic cartoon duo, this DVD is certainly a great one to add to your collection.

Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and Artemis have become YOUNG JUSTICE - The Justice League's secret weapon against the forces of evil. The teen heroes will take on under-the-radar missions that would be impossible for the Justice League to handle covertly. Red Tornado will be their supervisor, Black Canary will be in charge of their training and Batman will hand out their assignments.
Superhero shows are always fun to watch, and Young Justice is no exception. I wasn't too familiar with the show, nor had I seen any episodes of it, until I had the chance to review the Young Justice Season 1, Volume 2 DVD awhile back, and I've found that it is quite an excellent animated series. The newest volume (Volume 3), which recently made it's way onto DVD on February 21, continues where the second volume left off and seems to keep getting better. Action-filled episodes and great characters keep you drawn in to this cool superhero series.
Young Justice: Season 1, Volume 3 includes four episodes from the first season (Bereft, Targets, Terrors, and Home Front), so check it out if you're a superhero fan, and for new episodes, tune in to the Cartoon Network.

This half-hour animated comedy series starring Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck is no longer confined to 7-minute shorts. Bugs and Daffy are out of the woods and living in the suburbs among such colorful neighbors as Yosemite Sam, Granny, Tweety and Sylvester. In addition to each episode’s main story, The Looney Tunes Show also features “cartoons within a cartoon.” The Tasmanian Devil, Speedy Gonzales, Marvin the Martian and other classic characters sing original songs in two-minute music videos called Merrie Melodies. The legendary Looney Tunes cartoons are getting a 21st century relaunch and a CGI overhaul for a new generation.
I grew up watching Looney Tunes and laughing at all the antics of Bugs Bunny & the gang. Those classic Looney Tunes cartoons always knew how to make a person, no matter what their age, laugh! And after watching this new take, I'm happy to report that it knows how to bring the laughs just like the classics did. The DVD contains four episodes: Monster Talent – A Zipline in the Sand, Reunion – Cock of the Walk – Fee Fi Fo Dumb, Casa de Calma - Queso Bandito – Sail Fail, and Devil Dog - Unsafe at Any Speed. I got quite a kick out of the episode Casa de Calma, in which Daffy and Bugs try to get the attention of Scarlett Johansson, and I think the Merrie Melodies music videos (included on two of the episodes) and Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote" shorts (included on all four episodes) are a lot of fun!

Deck the halls with Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Brainy, Jokey and all the other true blue friends in these absosmurfly charming animated specials from The Smurfs TV series. In 'Tis the Season to be Smurfy, young Sassette Smurf discovers the true meaning of the season when the Smurfs befriend an elderly human couple who have no money to celebrate Christmas. Then, in The Smurfs Christmas Special, the wicked Gargamel plots to ruin Christmas for the Smurfs and with the help of an evil stranger, he destroys the Smurf?s village. But even with no Christmas decorations or holiday feast, the Smurfs still have a smurfy song in their hearts. Will Gargamel feel the Christmas spirit this year? Dash through the snow to give your family the smurfiest gift of the season!
I love the Smurfs, don't you? They are such classic characters and so adorable! I always get a chuckle out of their vocabulary, since the word "smurf" is used quite frequently, in different forms, and seems to mean practically anything they want it to mean. This DVD features everyone's favorite little blue creatures in two great Christmas specials: The Smurfs Christmas Special and 'Tis the Season to be Smurfy. The two Christmas episodes originally aired in the 80's but are still enjoyable today! The song, “Goodness makes the badness go away,” that the Smurfs sing in The Smurf’s Christmas Special is super cute! This is a wonderful DVD to add to holiday DVD collection and is something I bet many of you would enjoy watching with your family this holiday season. Plus, I'm pretty sure it would help make your holidays simply smurftastic! ;)

A holiday sourpuss brings Santa to the rescue of a small town's Christmas. For some unexplained reason, letters to Santa Claus are being returned to the children of Junctionville. It seems some resident has angered St. Nick, calling Christmas "a fraudulent myth!" Skeptical Albert Mouse has to be brought to his senses "and let up a little on the wonder why." How Albert is persuaded to change his tune paves the way for Santa's jolly return to town - and the joyous finale of the animated fable inspired by Clement Moore's poem and produced by the merrymaking conjurers of Rankin/Bass Studios. The voice talents of Joel Grey, Tammy Grimes, John McGiver and George Gobel make this festive fable even more fun.
Gosh, I just love all of these Rankin/Bass holiday specials being available on DVD! This classic cartoon has been remastered and is now available on DVD/Blu-ray Combo Pack, and it looks fantastic! 'Twas The Night Before Christmas is one of the ones I remember watching when I was younger, and it's one of my favorites! The songs are memorable, and this cartoon really seems to bring the well-known poem to life. Christmas: A Global Holiday is a pretty neat and interesting extra, but I think it would be awesome to see more extras on these classic Rankin/Bass cartoons in the future.

From beloved song to animated holiday classic: Frosty meets his match in a glistening Remastered Deluxe Edition! Andy Griffith, Shelley Winters and Jackie Vernon lend their voices to this captivating cartoon about the Snowman's winter return to the children of a small town for a winter season of fun and games. But he?s lonely at night when left by himself. So the grateful kids build him a beautiful snowlady companion. Jealous of the attention given Frosty, Jack Frost blows up a blizzard and swipes Frosty's magical, life-giving hat. Only true love can bring Frosty back to his old fun-loving self. Two songs that have proven to be enduring seasonal favorites highlight the soundtrack: Frosty the Snowman and Winter Wonderland.
Frosty’s Winter Wonderland is such a cute holiday tale! This Rankin/Bass holiday special is a classic, but it's one that I don't recall having seen before. At first, the idea of Frosty having a "snow wife" kind of made me laugh a bit, but their love for each other was so sweet and they were absolutely adorable together! I loved that Andy Griffith was the narrator, and I thought the music, of course, was great ("Thumpity thump thump, thumpity thump thump, look at Frosty skate. Thumpity thump thump, thumpity thump thump, making a figure...nine?" Haha!). The Deluxe Edition of Frosty's Winter Wonderland also includes a special feature called Frosty and the Story of the Snowman, which I really enjoyed watching.

The Peanuts gang holds a special place in my heart. I loved reading the Peanuts comic strips, own a few collectible Peanuts items from Hallmark, and still look forward to the classic specials that air on television during the holidays each year. Having the chance to sit down and watch this DVD was wonderful! The Peanuts cartoons are sweet, funny, and heart-warming, and I love that no matter what mood your in, the characters and stories always seem to bring a smile to your face! This is a great collection for Peanuts fans both young and old!

Based upon characters from DC Comics.

Young Justice focuses on Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and Artemis, who are teenage superheros. This animated series is a lot of fun and there's action galore! I think it's awesome that this show follows these six young heroes as teenagers when they're learning their craft. Helping them are a few superheros who happen to be quite well-known, including Batman and Aquaman! Young Justice: Season 1, Volume 2 includes four action-packed episodes and has a total running time of about 90 minutes. Superhero fans will love this one!

I had the chance to review Batman: The Brave and The Bold Season One, Part Two earlier this year, and I was happy to recently have the chance to check out Batman: The Brave and The Bold Season Two, Part One, as well. I love that the show is fun, action-packed, and even has a great sense of humor. Plus, you not only get Batman, but a ton of other DC Comics' superheroes and villains, too. Some of the characters I was quite familiar with, while others I didn't know at all. Chill of the Night and Aquaman's Outrageous Adventure were my two favorite episodes from this set. It's a fun animated series that an entire family can enjoy watching together!

Who doesn't just adore the Smurfs?! My sister was a huge fan back in the day, as was I. And with the new movie coming out, it's great to watch some of the original cartoons. I didn't really remember any of these episodes that where featured on this DVD set, but I certainly recall that memorable theme song, which can easily get stuck in your head, and those loveable characters. My favorite episodes were Sister Smurf and Smurf Van Winkle. All of the Smurfs are so cute, and each episode is still entertaining and quite funny after all these years.
The Smurfs: A Magical Smurf Adventure features 10 great episodes. It also includes two fun special features (Smurf Speak: Express Yourself the Smurf Way and Smurftastic Moments: 10 Top Moments from the Smurfs’ Second Season). The Smurfs' language is really quite unique because they use the word "smurf" quite often and it seems to mean practically anything, so it was cool to watch Smurf Speak. Smurftastic Moments was really cute, too!

Tom and Jerry are classic cartoon characters, and you just got to love them! I know that I completely adored them when I was a kid. I had a chance to review the first volume of Tom and Jerry: Fur Flying Adventures earlier this year and just recently had the opportunity to watch Tom and Jerry: Fur Flying Adventures Volume 2, which I enjoyed just as much as the first. The DVD contains 14 great cartoons, which runs a little over an hour and a half. My favorite episodes were Of Feline Bondage and Saturday Evening Puss. Tom and Jerry are just so cute, and no matter how old I get, they are always funny!

During a rafting excursion of an uncharted river canyon, Professor John Butler, wife Kim, kids Katie and Greg and family dog Digger get caught up in a mysterious whirlpool and resurface in a world of prehistoric creatures. Now everyday is an exercise in survival for the adventurous Butler family. They befriend a helpful cave-dwelling family and together must contend with an angry brontosaurus and a dangerous sabertooth tiger – and don’t forget the earthquakes and volcanoes! Any time the family can spare is spent building a boat or radio in hopes of finding their way back to the modern era in this 2-Disc, 16-Episode Collection of the exciting animated series Valley of the Dinosaurs.
Even though it reminds me a bit of The Flintstones and Land of the Lost, this 1970's action-adventure cartoon series from Hanna-Barbera is quite fun to watch! A modern 70s family, the Butlers, and their dog find themselves pulled into prehistoric times. They meet and become fast friends with a caveman named Gorok and his family, which is very similar to the Butlers in composition (parents, daughter, and son). Gorok's family even has a pet! Although, in this case, it's not a dog, but a dinosaur, who I think is kinda cute actually. Together, these two families work to survive in the "valley of the dinosaurs," while even working on a way to get the Butler family back home. It's an entertaining series, and I love the bits of comedy in it! If you were a fan of this series, or just a Hanna-Barbera fan, be sure to head over to WarnerArchive.com and check this one out!

Q: What do pint-sized space travelers and a teenage science buff have in common? A: Loyal dogs, a calling to protect the planet (and beyond) from evil and they shared a half-hour Saturday Morning TV time slot of animated fun! Space Kidettes and Young Samson kicks off with the adventures of Scooter, Jenny, Snoopy and Countdown – the Space Kidettes – and their puppy Pupstar. Operating from their space capsule-turned-clubhouse, they protect the galaxy from the bumbling Captain Skyhook. The second half of the show is devoted to Samson, a teen with a big brain, magical bracelets and a dog Goliath who transforms into a lion when it comes time to thwart the diabolical plans of mad scientists. This action-packed 4-Disc Collection includes All 20 Episodes of our resourceful heroes up against space pirates, molemen, monster asteroids and more!
NOTE: The original network broadcasts of SPACE KIDETTES (1966) and YOUNG SAMSON (1967) were formatted to break up the plot line of each episode to include additional animated content not made by Hanna-Barbera, but which were controlled by the series’ sponsor. After the network runs ended, the KIDETTES and SAMSON stories were re-edited into continuous scenarios, and the two series were joined together as the THE SPACE KIDETTES/YOUNG SAMSON SHOW for subsequent forms of distribution. The revised syndication versions of these shows are the only ones available for distribution, as the original network versions were cut and reconformed for the current configuration.
This Space Kidettes & Young Samson 4-disc DVD set is a whole lot of fun! These two series may seem as though they're an odd pairing to some, but they are both really entertaining to watch as with many of the classics from Hanna-Barbera! The Space Kidettes gang are so adorable, and I love the fact that even though Captain Skyhook was always after their treasure map, he never actually wanted to harm them -- always saying, "You can't do that to little kids!" Young Samson is filled with a lot of action, with Samson always traveling around on his cool scooter and helping out wherever there's trouble by using his bracelets to transform into a super strong version of himself (and his dog, Goliath, transforms too -- into a huge lion)! I liked both of the cartoons, but I think I'd have to say that The Space Kidettes was my favorite of the two -- I can't lie, their cuteness just won me over!
Disclosure: Warner Bros. provided me with a copy of "The Space Kidettes & Young Samson" on DVD at no cost to me for review purposes. I received no compensation for making this post. All opinions are my own.
Batman wings into an exciting new era, teaming with a mighty honor roll of DC Comics Super Heroes in this action-packed series. Through the show’s final 13 Animated Adventures in this 2-Disc Collection, the Dark Knight allies with Aquaman, Plastic Man, Blue Beetle, Red Tornado, Green Arrow, Wildcat, Deadman, Bronze Tiger and Atom to take on an array of evildoers ranging from mad scientists to intergalactic crooks, from power-mad dictators to out-of-control teenagers. He even travels to a parallel world, becoming the villainous Owlman! In this cool, cutting-edge and often funny series bringing back old-school comic-book styling and dry wit to crimefighting, Batman faces any peril – including other heroes stealing the show – in his relentless pursuit of justice.
Episodes:
1. Mystery in Space! 2. Trials Of The Demon! 3. Night Of The Huntress! 4. Menace Of The Conqueror Caveman! 5. The Color Of Revenge! 6. Legends of the Dark Mite! 7. Hail The Tornado Tyrant! 8. Duel Of The Double Crossers! 9. The Last Bat On Earth! 10. When Omac Attacks! 11. The Fate Of Equinox! 12. Mayhem Of The Music Meister! 13. Inside the Outsiders!
I really enjoyed Batman: The Brave and The Bold Season One Part Two. It's a fun animated series with action and a bit of humor thrown in, which always seems to make for a great show! Each episode had excitement in it, and not only do you get to follow the adventures of Batman, but the series also features other DC Comics Super Heroes too (which I thought was pretty awesome!), such as Aquaman and Blue Beetle. It's a great animated series that I think most all ages would enjoy!

Playing in a rock-’n’-roll band and saving the undersea world from diabolical villains? An impossible task for most, but not for Jabberjaw, the 15-foot talking great white shark from the fan-favorite Saturday morning cartoon series. The year is 2076 and Jabberjaw is the star of the Neptunes, a teenage rock group. In his spare time, Jabberjaw, along with teens Biffy, Shelly, Bubbles and Clamhead, fight deep sea crime. But its tough down there for a shark. Jabberjaw must also contend with the robot force of “Shark Ejectors,” guards who prevent sharks from entering into underwater cities. All he wants is a little respect! Catch the tidal wave of adventure, music and laughter in this 4-Disc, 16-Episode Series Collection.
Jabberjaw is another great Hanna-Barbera animated series, and it's title character is actually a friendly shark who plays drums in a rock band, along with his (human) friends, called The Nuptunes. The Neptunes are "musical heroes" -- they not only play in a rock group, but they also fight off all the bad guys in the futuristic undersea world! It reminds me of a combination of Scooby Doo and Josie and the Pussycats, which are two shows I really loved. This series definitely has some pretty clever lines that made me laugh (with one of them being, "You look much better with your face on"). From the opening with the awesome theme song to the end of the show, it's fun the whole way through!
Disclosure: Warner Bros. provided me with a copy of "Jabberjaw" on DVD at no cost to me for review purposes. I received no compensation for making this post. All opinions are my own.
